Bronx Shooting

A man says he was kept in jail for nearly five months based solely on the testimony of a man whom police paid $2,000 for his testimony about a 2013 fatal shooting.

BRONX, N.Y. – A man claims in court that he was kept in jail for nearly five months based solely on the testimony of a man whom police paid $2,000 for his testimony about the 2013 fatal shooting of Dayson Sumpter. Prosecutors waited another seven months to drop the charges after the witness gave another sworn statement saying he did not see the plaintiff shoot Sumpter.
