SAN DIEGO (CN) - A 55-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to seven months in prison for dumping cyanide at the Miramar Landfill - enough to kill instantly anyone within 30 yards of it, federal prosecutors said.
Raul Antonio Gonzalez Lopez, of Tijuana, illegally dumped acid and potassium cyanide at the landfill in March 2011, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
"Anyone within 30 yards when the chemicals combined would have been killed instantly," the U.S. attorney said in a statement.
