Fashion infringement
LOS ANGELES — A California fabric wholesaler and clothing merchant, Fabric Selection, won judgments against competing sellers, mostly online retailers, which sold “near-verbatim copies” of its copyrighted clothing designs without permission. One competitor, Zulily, never appeared in this action and owes $12,000 in statutory damages; another, Design West Mode, owes $6,000; these represent an award of $3,000 per infringement.
