Minnesota Accused Of Ignoring The ‘Ebola Of Fish Viruses’

ST. PAUL, MINN. (CN) - The State of Minnesota is refusing to stop the spread of "ebola of fish viruses," into Lake Superior, the only Great Lake not yet contaminated by Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia, the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy claims in Ramsey County Court.

The Center claims the state's inaction violates the Clean Water Act. Though the U.S. Department of Agriculture calls the threat "extremely serious," to freshwater and saltwater fish, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency does not require vessels to have permits to discharge wastewater that can spread the virus, does not inspect vessels for presence of the virus, nor established any regulations to protect the state's waters. The Center demands declaratory and injunctive relief.
