DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Supreme Court ruled that a police officer improperly looked through trash bags without a warrant in a drug investigation. The court ruled that although warrantless trash grabs are useful for law enforcement, “the utility of warrantless activity is not the issue under our constitution.”
