U.S. Condemns WikiLeaks’|Planned Release of War Docs

WASHINGTON (CN) - Whistleblower website WikiLeaks plans to release 15,000 more Afghan war documents, its founder said, a move the Pentagon condemned as the "height of irresponsibility."

WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange told reporters in London about the planned release.

In July WikiLeaks released 76,000 secret documents giving on the on-the-ground account of the war in Afghanistan, delaying the release of 15,000 additional documents so the organization could comb through and delete the names of innocent Afghans. Assange said they are about halfway through the process.

Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell called the planned release the "height of irresponsibility."

"It would compound a mistake that has already put far too many lives at risk," he said.

Morrell reiterated the Pentagon's demands that WikiLeaks remove the documents from their website and erase all classified material from their computers, calling it the "only responsible course of action."
